Educational Technology 6

In Ed Tech 6, students progress to more sophisticated work in this course, including the use of electronic media and software to apply academic concepts in the creation of meaningful organizers, projects and presentations. Students locate, retrieve and evaluate data in order to construct and analyze databases. Students produce presentations on Internet safety, online predators, and cyberbullying. At the end of the course, students become effective communicators and collaborators as they plan, evaluate and synthesize research emphasizing current issues with technology. About Mrs. Simonson

Extra Help!

There are 6 portfolios in Educational Technology 7. Here is extra help for each one!

  1. Unit 2 Lesson 9 Portfolio

    • Remember, the main goal of this assignment is to show me that you can use a word processor! I will accept a paragraph instead of an essay for this assignment. To receive full points on this portfolio you MUST include the following in your paragraph:

    • Topic Sentence

      • 3 detail sentences

      • Closing sentence

  2. Unit 3 Lesson 5 Portfolio - Please watch the following short lesson. You will be glad you did, because I have modified the assignment! Food Chains Presentation

    • The presentation you will be using for this portfolio can be found HERE. You will need to make a copy or download it in order to edit it as the instrucitons state.

  3. Unit 4 Lesson 7 Portfolio - In this unit you will learn about spreadsheets such as Excel or Google Sheets. The portfolio has been skipped.

  4. Unit 5 Lesson 6 Portfolio -

    • Unit 5 Goal Setting Portfolio

      • You are going to brainstorm a list of the following goals:

        • one long-term educational goal for middle school

        • two short-term goals that support your long-term educational goal

        • one personal goal (short- or long-term)

      • TYPE your four goals into a word processor such as Microsoft Word, Google Docs, etc:

        • Long-term goal:

        • Short-term goal #1:

        • Short-term goal #2:

        • Personal goal:

      • What do you need to do to reach each goal? Type a short list, or type a short paragraph below each goal to describe your plan for achieving it.

  5. Unit 6 Lesson 2 Portfolio

    • In this lesson, you will be learning about how to keep your information more secure, and how to avoid viruses and malware. You will then create a PSA (Public Service Announcement) teaching others about how to stay safe as well!

      • You can use whatever program you like best to create this PSA, but it must be created on the computer!

      • Feel free to let your creativity shine!

      • What this SHORT LESSON RECORDING before getting started. You will be glad you did!

  6. Unit 7 Final Project - Work through each lesson, but the assessments have been skipped.

Grade Recovery!

I have had a few of you ask if you can have Quick Checks reset. I usually don't. If you fail a Quick Check, just notice what you missed and move on. They just don't impact your grade once you start submitting portfolios at the end of Unit 2

Portfolios are the majority of your grade in our class, but Quick Checks are only 5% of your grade. That said, if you ever have a grade on a PORTFOLIO that you don't like, you may re-do your portfolio one time to try to get a higher grade.

Educational Technology 6 is a Pass/Fail class . Therefore, at the end of this school year, if you have a 60% or higher in our class, you will show a grade of Pass (not an A, B, etc...), and if you have a 59% or lower, you will have a Fail. I do not anticipate you will get a Fail!

Please reach out with any questions you may have.

Make it a great day, 6th graders!!
