Educational Technology 7

In Ed Tech 7, students progress to more sophisticated work in this course, including the use of electronic media and software to apply academic concepts in the creation of meaningful organizers, projects, and presentations. Students locate, retrieve, and evaluate data to construct and analyze databases. Students produce presentations on Internet safety, online predators, and cyber bullying. At the end of the course, students become effective communicators and collaborators as they plan, evaluate, and synthesize research emphasizing current issues with technology. About Mrs. Simonson

Extra Help!

Your grade in Educational Technology is comprised mainly of portfolios. Here is extra help with each!

Unit 2 Lesson 1:

  • Do you know what's great about today? You get to submit your first portfolio for Educational Technology 7! This is the Personal Narrative that you started in the previous lesson, which was #8.  Your personal narrative can be something true about you, such as when you met your best friend or moved houses, or something made up such as the time that you met a leprauchan!

  • Please watch this SHORT SCREENCAST (less than 2 minutes) to get off to a great start! Remember, 95% of your grade is made up of portfolio scores, so you want to do your best!

  • At the end of this unit, you will submit a Personal Narrative. This means you might learn about and practice using a word processor in this unit, but you will only submit in Lesson 9 the Personal Narrative that you start in Lesson 8.

Unit 3 Lesson 7:

  • In this lesson, you will be editing a presentation using something like PowerPoint, Google Slides, OpenOffice Impress, etc. Please follow my instructions rather than the instructions in the lesson.

    • Open THIS PRESENTATION, and Download (File>Download) or Make a Copy (File>Make a Copy) so you can edit it

    • Open THIS LINK to get the information you need about the earth's geologic timescale

    • Watch THIS SCREENCAST (it's required, but very short - less than 10 minutes!)

    • Complete your presentation that you opened in Step 1, adding data and formatting as needed

    • Submit to your Dropbox!

Unit 4 Lesson 7 Portfolio:

  • As with Unit 3, I want you to use my instructions rather than the instructions in this lesson. You will need to go through this lesson to submit your document in the Dropbox at the end, but you do not need to read any of it.

    • Watch this SHORT SCREENCAST (about 6 minutes)

    • Open THIS DOCUMENT

    • Follow the instructions given in the screencast

    • Download the document as a PDF or a spreadsheet and submit to your Dropbox.

Unit 5: This unit has been skipped.

Unit 6 Lesson 3 Portfolio:

  • As usual, I have modified your portfolio. Use THIS WORKSHEET to complete this lesson. That is all you need to complete for this assignment, as long as your answers are good!

Unit 7: This unit has been skipped.

Grade Recovery!

I have had a few of you ask if you can have Quick Checks reset. I usually don't. If you fail a Quick Check, just notice what you missed and move on. They just don't impact your grade once you start submitting portfolios at the end of Unit 2

Portfolios are the majority of your grade in our class, but Quick Checks are only 5% of your grade. That said, if you ever have a grade on a PORTFOLIO that you don't like, you may re-do your portfolio one time to try to get a higher grade.

Educational Technology 7 is a Pass/Fail class . Therefore, at the end of this school year, if you have a 60% or higher in our class, you will show a grade of Pass (not an A, B, etc...), and if you have a 59% or lower, you will have a Fail. I do not anticipate you will get a Fail!

Please reach out with any questions you may have.

Make it a great day, 7th graders!!
